Assassination of Correa was a setup, says detainee

The plot to assassinate Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa, for which three Colombians and an Ecuadorean were arrested in the Ecuadorean capital Quito, was a setup, says Óscar Jiménez Orozco, one of the Colombian detainees. Jiménez Orozco said one his fellow detainees set everything up to collect a reward. He says he has no criminal record and refuses any links to Colombian armed groups.
The suspect, currently held by Ecuadorean authorities, says he is a spare car parts dealer in Venezuela and came to Ecuador, because one of the suspects offered him a job there. The Colombian, who had told the authorities he belonged to a paramilitary organization “basically set up a circus in order to collect a reward,” the newspaper quoted Jiménez saying. Jiménez didn’t say who would have offered the reward.
