Suppose the FARC had comitted the same atrocities the AUC have...

VHeadline Spanish Edition Chief Jesus Nery Barrios writes: Given the wave of hypocrite indignation within olygarchic Colombian media and Colombia's current rulers (recently tied to narco-paramilitary groups) sparked by the honest and trascendental statements made by Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez on the political aknowledgement of the Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC) as belligerent entity and, as such, their role in the longstanding conflict affecting all Latin America it is pertinent to ask why the same reasons to bitterly hate FARC and not allowing them a single inch of space for a negotiation that implies a political solution to this war between the rich and the poor were not used against genocidal Colombian United SelfDefense forces (AUC - paramilitary far right rebel group), with whom the Colombian government achieved a "peace" and "demovilization" agreement, blessed by the U.S. and the "international community"?

Didn't the AUC murdered women and children?

Presuming the FARC have done the same, according to Colombian private media, and that was reason enough not to aknowledge them or to negotiate absolutely nothing with them and keep them in the "terrorist groups" list prepared by the U.S. neocons?

Suppose the FARC had comitted the same atrocities the AUC have ... propaganda delivered to us by the corporate media of the ruling classes worldwide, a point that makes you doubt it, insted of endorsing it, don't they deserve the same chance given to the AUC who, according to many Colombian witnesses affected by their terrorist actions, made brief executions, raped women and children, tortured people, curtailed the limbs of their victims with chainsaws, and ate their entrails and threw their dead bodies into the rivers?

Why the double standard?

Is it because the FARC have carried out a more noble struggle and because of it they are supported by many more Colombians and Latin Americans the Colombian and world media would like to accept?

Isn't it that they prefer to anihilate all members of the FARC before any of them testifies the truth about this 50-years long war between Colombian social classes to the world?

While U.S. backed government of Uribe, tightly linked to the parapolitics scandal, which refers to his ties and those from his collaborators to far-right paramilitary groups, made a peace agreement with AUC, accused worldwide of heinous crimes agaisnt humanity, it denies the same favoritism to FARC
