President Hugo Chavez vows to use all means possible to keep pushing up oil prices through OPEC
President Hugo Chavez vowed Friday to use all means possible to keep pushing up oil prices through the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. 'We will do whatever necessary in OPEC to continue strengthening the price of our oil,' Chavez said in a televised address. 'One hundred dollars for a barrel of oil today is a fair price,' he said, particularly since the U.S. dollar has lost ground lately. Chavez announced plans to continue using oil revenues to finance social programs, particularly in the health sector.
