Once Again: “Chavez”

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said yesterday, to a rowdy crowd, that if the opposition continued unresting the peace of the “democracy” the country enjoys, he will not hesitate to put out tanks in the streets of Caracas.

Chavez said that he will imprison the governor of Zulia for being the intellectual planner of a conspiracy against his persona to kill him. He stated that Manuel Rosales, one of the four governors who opposes the head of state policies and governmental actions, is a traitor to the nation who wishes to destabilize a “solid democracy.”

"I have decided to make Manuel Rosales a prisoner," Chavez told a group of business leaders in Maracaibo. "He cannot continue in office. . . . He is one of those who wants to see me dead."

According to the Boston Globe, Rosales is running for mayor of Maracaibo, Venezuela's second largest city. He ran against Chavez for the presidency in 2006, but Chavez handily defeated him with nearly 63 percent of the vote. The governor denied such accusations as typical delusions from the president, who wants to hide through constructed excuses to deprive him from his freedom, as he represents an ongoing threat for Chavez, who has seen his numbers of popularity drop significantly.

The Venezuelan president has become nothing more than a disguised dictator in a democratic outfit. Once again, as he starts to realize that he will not be able to install in power perpetually, the man becomes irrational, throwing accusations once in a while and abusing his constitutional powers at his own behalf. Also due to the ongoing decrease of crude around the globe, the man might be feeling a bit edgy and insecure, as he sits over the world's fifth producer of oil.
