Venezuela's central bank says annual inflation in metropolitan Caracas reached 35.6 percent in October as prices for food and drinks soared, the Associated Press reported. That's nearly unchanged from 36 percent recorded in September. The central bank has not been releasing annual inflation figures for the whole country since adopting a new method of measuring inflation earlier this year. According to figures released Thursday, monthly inflation reached 2.4 percent nationwide in October - up from 2 percent in September. Prices for restaurants, hotels and household items also saw strong gains. But price increases were fairly stable for health and transportation. Venezuela has the highest official inflation rate in Latin America.
