United States aggression: Venezuela must be ready for such a contingency ... because come it must at any moment!

VHeadline commentarist Kenneth T. Tellis writes: Is this not the same policy of the US Government in raids into Laos and Cambodia during the Vietnam era?

There, of course, it used the excuse that it was justifiable since it was to destroy Viet Cong supply hide-outs depots.

While the Bush regime admits to having ordered US Special Forces to make secret forays into Pakistan and Syria against al-Qaeda under a broad 2004 mandate approved by President George W. Bush himself, what has NOT been admitted here is the fact that US Special Forces were directly involved on the raid well inside Ecuador on March 1, 2008, supposedly against a FARC encampment.

But what excuse does the US government have for launching that attack?

From the very admission by the US government that it reserves the right to attack al-Qaeda anywhere in the world ... even in those countries that do NOT have any war with the US ... this is, in a sense, a spin-off from the old days of the Wild West, where vigilante justice was meted out to anyone who challenged the locals who were in power.

This now opens a very dangerous precedent, which has been set, and can well be used against any country that does not kowtow to the US, inas much as they refuse to hand over their natural resources -- case in point Venezuela!

This of course requires a response, in that it now reciprocally gives any country that opposes the US the right to launch an attack on the US mainland or its territories without giving any notice!

So, it is in a sense Open Season on the US from now ... any country can use the same option.

  • If one even considers the whole story, the US is still in a position to launch a premeditated attack on Venezuela, if only for its oilfields.

So, the world is no better off now than it was before the election of Barack Obama ... unless of course the new Democratic administration that takes over on January 20, 2009, rescinds all the illegal laws passed by the Bush regime since the year 2000.

So, Venezuela must be ready for such a contingency ... because come it must at any moment.
