President Hugo Chavez to personally deliver compensation payments to evicted miners in El Callao

VHeadline Venezuela News reports: Evicted small-scale miner in the El Callao district of Koasia in southeastern Bolivar State have been told that they are finally to receive payment of compensation to which they were entitled after for having been "thrown out" of the area six years ago in preparation for the award of a gold mining contract to the Toronto-based Crystallex International and Spokane (Washington, USA) based Gold Reserve transnational mining corporations.

The news comes after President Hugo Chavez Frias personally intervened to order the Basic Industries & Mines Ministry (Mibam) to effect payments of Bs.F 10,000 each before or after July 22-28 in a ceremony to be held in the presence of President Chavez himself.

Chavez returns briefly to Venezuela from a tour of Latin American capitals this weekend before departing, Tuesday, on a high-level visit to Europe and Russia.
