Exclusive: WOOPS! Seventy-two hours and counting...

VHeadline Venezuela News
can exclusively report that hot on the heels of President Hugo Chavez Frias notice that the United States Ambassador to Venezuela had 72 hours to leave Venezuela, there's a diplomatic protocol flap caused by the fact that US Ambassador to Venezuela, Patrick Duddy isn't even IN Venezuela!

Protocol officials at the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry (MRE) were caught on the hop and Chavez' own information and security team appear to have been ignorant of Duddy's whereabouts as well!

However, late this Friday afternoon it appears a compromise solution has been reached inasmuch as it is now officially seen as the "office of, or the titular Ambassador" who must leave ... in this case the next in line being the current Charge d'Affaires.

In late breaking news, it now appears that the diplomatic row has been escalated and that ALL United States diplomatic staff in Venezuela (not just in the capital, Caracas) are being required to leave ... and the clock is still ticking!

Only local US embassy and consular staff will remain at the US "bunker" on Colinas del Bello Monte although a detachment of armed US Marine Guards and other non-diplomatic staffers will stay to hold the fort!

Confidential sources at the US Embassy in Caracas have told VHeadline that some of the diplomatic staff and their families are being flown out already today, with the remainder to follow on specially-arranged flights tomorrow, Saturday.

  1. Too bad Hugo is an ignorant coward -- he will never keep his promise to stop all oil flow to the US.

For once, I'd like him to keep his word -- no oil to the US, PERIOD.
