Kenneth T. Tellis: Food for thought...

VHeadline commentarist Kenneth T. Tellis writes: This morning I was having a conversation with a Hungarian friend on food and was told that the McDonalds Hamburger was now the rage in Budapest, Hungary. I thought about that conversation and it occurred to me that the US has used food to brainwash the world, and that we needed to counter this, by taking a very different approach.

I know that Cuba has no McDonalds, so they could come-up with something that is very familiar and local and the same time.

Say a CUBANO or CUBANA Sandwich or Burger, made mainly from local produce, containing both vegetable and meat as their main base. I know that its only an idea, but it does have its merits, does it not? For advertising a catchy Cuban tune can be the background music.

While reading something on Venezuela recently, I came across mention of McDonalds in Caracas, Venezuela, again this is how the US Fast-Food industry makes inroads into national fabric of a country.

So it might be good idea from some enterprising Venezuelan to come-up with something very local and yet healthy at the same time.

Again, any food should be healthful and tasty.

So there is certainly room in Venezuela for such a change. But again it should be made from local produce.

Say something with a familiar name and ring to it, like a Venezuela Sandwich or Burger. Even the advertising should be done in such a way that the music being used is a familiar Venezuelan tune.

If this continued invasion of Latin America continues by US fast-food establishments, it will finally brainwash Venezuelan youth via food products that are an example of OBESITY that has taken hold in the very USA.

So its time for a counter attack on the food front in all of Latin America on the American style of food.
