Argentine President Confirms Visit to Venezuela
Argentine President Cristina Fernandez will travel to Caracas on March 5 to meet with his Venezuelan counterpart, Hugo Chavez, according to officials sources. As part of bilateral complementation agreements, Venezuela agreed last week to import 1,000 tons a month of Argentine meat, and other products such as flour, milk and oil.

While a strategic alliance between the venezuelan and argentine states is of course a fundamental aim of international politics in ALBA, in no way should socialists consider the Kirchner crews as themselves being too "socialist". Social-democratic -- i.e. peronist -- is more like it. Little has changed in Argentina except the power of the oligarchy and the military, from most appearances.
ReplyDeleteVenezuelan and other socialists should instead continue to look for and build direct ties with other socialist organizations of the masses, in Argentina and elsewhere -- going around the gatekeepers which try to hem us in at every level -- and not make the basic, classic error of tying themselves so completely to the efforts of just one -- fallible -- man like Hugo Chávez, super guy that he is.
