Mibam Minister Sanz promises great future for EPS companies as Bolivar State Governor takes delivery of new executive jet!

VHeadline Venezuela News reports: Basic Industries & Mines (Mibam) Minister Rodolfo Sanz says that social production companies (EPS) have become an important source of employment and wealth for high-level economic and industrial development in the Guayana region of southeastern Venezuela.

Sanz was speaking at the 1st Fair & Exhibition Sale of EPS Goods and Services involving some 166 business executives from 76 production companies servicing the giant Venezuelan Guayana Corporation (CVG) iron, steel and aluminum subsidiaries. The event was hosted by Bolivar State Governor Francisco Rangel Gomez who has just taken possession of a new Beechcraft 400A executive jet.

The social production companies are mostly specialized in developing products and services, including the manufacture of industrial clothing and footwear, industrial maintenance services, landscaping and food preparation.

Sanz says that the number of EPSs has tripled in just two years thanks to a raft of incentives with technical and financial assistance from Mibam via the CVG. He adds that vital support has been given by the CVG's Guyana Regional Fund created in 1998 with the then-privatization of Siderurgica del Orinoco (Sidor) to finance small and medium-scale industrial projects. Sanz is also quoted as saying "I am committed to effect a transformation of the Guyana Regional Fund and to use existing resources to supporting numerous projects."

Officials say that the Fund has some Bs.54 million at its disposal and will provide substantial support to EPSs throughout the Guayana region, including the states of Bolivar, Delta Amacuro, Amazonas and parts of Anzoategui and Monagas ... the CVG and its core businesses will also support the EPSs with financing and to guarantee supplies of raw materials to develop aluminum, steel and timber products with loan and grants, marketing expertise, technical assistance and personnel training.

As an example, the Mibam Minister says that Eastern Forest Products (Proforca) has been instructed to purchase of doors, windows and beds made of pine by several EPS organizations in Monagas and Anzoategui states. "These products are to be used in CVG housing projects for company workers and many families who have recently been made homeless."
