An open letter to Nicolas Maduro, Foreign Minister of Venezuela

VHeadline's Oscar Heck writes: Today, after more than five years of investigating and writing against the massive amounts of disinformation and negative propaganda against Venezuela on the international scene, I find myself deeply distressed, disappointed and perplexed about the inability or unwillingness of the Venezuelan government to assist us in continuing our work in favor of Venezuelan democracy ... in favor of the Venezuelan people.

We, at VHeadline.com each have our personal reasons for putting endless hours of research time and writing time into the effort to expose the lies and to expose the liars on the international US-led media/propaganda front.

We spend hours on a daily basis reviewing "opinion" and "news" articles from almost every media source throughout the world, we spend our own money traveling to and from Venezuela, traveling the country, from Urena to Cumana, through major cities such as Caracas, Barquisimeto and Maracaibo. We travel by bus and taxi and by air, meeting people from all walks of life in barrios and in places such as Las Mercedes and Prados.

Some of us live and work in the barrios while doubling-up as travelers, businessmen or professionals ... which allow us to infiltrate the opposition ... to find out what is really going on.

Some of us even meet with foreign agents operating within and outside Venezuela ... so that we can further discover the details which lie unreported regarding to depth of US-government (CIA, NED, USAID, Christian missionaries and more) infiltration within Venezuela and their collaboration with violent Venezuelan groups which are increasingly seeking to assassinate Chavez and "get rid" of the humanist Bolivarian Revolution.

I have my own personal reasons to do what I do ... spending easily 200 hours a month working for VHeadline.com in favor of the Bolivarian Revolution, in favor of Chavez ... while working full-time making a living.

We are not many, but we do the work of many ... with no pay whatsoever ... and some of us have been doing this for over 10 years now. Indeed, we have often found ourselves, as writers, in the situation where we have had to personally finance VHeadline.com ... from our own anorexic piggy banks.

I am not implying that we are God's English-speaking gift to Venezuela ... but I can tell you this much, Nicolas Maduro ... in 2002, previous to, during and after the coup, we were the only international English-language news and views outlet which reported the truth as close to reality as possible ... while every other major media outlet reported lies ... we were personally in contact with people in Venezuela on a continual basis and throughout the country ... as we are on a daily basis to this day.

During the sabotage of the economy by the violent opposition, it was we at VHeadline.com that reported the event as a violent sabotage when every other international media outlet erroneously reported it as a strike.

It was VHeadline.com which first reported the fact that the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) was directly financing the violent Venezuelan opposition and dared to publish the names of those Venezuelans and those Venezuelan organization which received NED financing and how much they received and when.

(Eva Golinger, as you know, later deepened the investigation by going through the US-government "Freedom of Information Act.")

Even before publishing the NED information, we were threatened with assassination, our families were threatened and our paying advertisers were threatened directly ... and that is where our financial problems began ... in January 2003.

For over 10 years, we have consistently been the only widely-read full-spectrum English-language daily media outlet entirely dedicated to Venezuela which dares to report reality as it develops.

We investigate, verify, double-check, interview people, travel and infiltrate on behalf of the Venezuelan people who voted for and support Chavez ... we do not follow the US State Department's anti-Chavez, anti-Venezuela trend which the vast majority of the North American and European media follows in such a "who cares" fashion ... caring little about how their lies will hurt the innocent Venezuelan majority.

For this we have been sabotaged on a continuous basis, hacked into and threatened.

I personally have lost 4 computers over a period of 5 years.

Nicolas Maduro, we do not want to see in Venezuela another Iraq ... but as you are well aware of, the media garbage that is now being dished out by the international media against Venezuela is reaching the same proportions which Iraq experienced in the months prior to the criminal US invasion in which millions of innocent Iraqis were killed, maimed and physically and emotionally scarred for life.

We at VHeadline. com feel that it is our responsibility to help you fight those who continue to destroy Venezuela as we speak, our enemies. I personally am very concerned, and even more today that ever before.

What we need is for VHeadline.com's website to be up and running and financed on an ongoing basis ... but first, we also need to pay off our debts in full ... which is a substantial amount.

We writers need VHeadline.com as much as Venezuela needs VHeadline.com.

I am not being narcissistic or condescending or patronizing ... I am being pragmatic, realistic, tactical and strategic in face of a violent, ruthless, heavily armed and heavily financed enemy.

Most of us at VHeadline.com are pro-Chavez, me for example ... but we also have some writers who are not necessarily in favor of Chavez ... but again, that is not the point. The point is that we provide readers worldwide (usually in the millions weekly) with as much as possible of the truth about Venezuela without following the corporate media machine and its lie factories. We are proud to have contributed what we believe to be an enormous amount of work in favor, always in favor, of the Venezuelan people ... in favor of Venezuela's self-governance and participative democracy.

At one time we were receiving some financing from CITGO (through Citgo advertising) but tempers flared over some issues and relations were broken off.

This also happened at the MINCI level, where the ministry had been in the process of setting up a program of assistance ... but that fell through as well due to misunderstandings and tempers.

So what? That's what I say. So what if Roy Carson gets a little cranky and goes a little crazy once in a while? So what? Nicolas, permit me to call you Nicolas ... just ask Yuri about it ... ask Andres about it. Again, I say, "So what?" Ask them. It will take you only a few minutes ... but it could help save Venezuela from the deluge of lies and disinformation which is flooding the world as we speak.

Can't we all just kiss and make up? Aren't we all on the same side?

Anyway ... look at it this way ... think of it as a family squabble between over-worked, over-tired brothers ... between a Mad Irishman and a few proud Venezuelans ... I should know about Venezuelan pride, I'm married to one very proud Venezuelan ... and we've known each other for over 30 years ... and we love each other as dearly as we did when we first met, and more!

You know ... Nicolas ... on February 3, 2008 I got the shock of my life, and for the first time in over 5 years and over 500 articles, I felt like giving up ... I feel almost helpless. Nicolas, while the opposition and the US-government spends millions on media and CIA dollars destroying Venezuela ... and while the US government spends billions of dollars preparing for invasion through Plan Colombia ... we at VHeadline.com suffer in gut-wrenching silence because we have no more money to continue to effectively fight the media enemy as we have been doing for so long.

You may have seen this ... there is a long, detailed and major article written by one John Carlin published on February 3, 2008 in The (UK) Observer and it is entitled, "Revealed: Chavez role in cocaine trail to Europe." This article is garbage ... but the vast majority of people outside Venezuela actually believe it ... making it, like most of the garbage out there about Venezuela, extremely dangerous.

Are we going to let these criminals get away with it ... and destroy Venezuela as they did Afghanistan and Iraq ... as they are now doing with Iran? No.

I know what I have to do ... I must travel to Venezuela, to the borders in Tachira and perhaps to the border states of Apure and Amazonas and meet with Colombians and find the evidence to discredit John Carlin and expose him as the liar I suspect him to be. I must take samples of the water coming down from Colombian mountain streams into Venezuela and take these to laboratories to confirm exactly to what degree US-based chemical warfare is being used against innocent people in Colombia and Venezuela ... how much of the now-banned Paraquat, the extremely poisonous Garlon‑4, Tebuthyiuron, Imazapyr .... and .... Roundup (Glyphosate + POEA) ... and ... surfactants such as CosmoFlux and CosmoInD are being used by the Colombian and US governments in their false "War on Drugs."

I feel I must do this. I don't need to get paid to do this and I don't want to get paid ... but I do need VHeadline.com to exist ... so that we can reach the millions of people worldwide who are being bamboozled into believing that Venezuela is a land of terrorists, thugs and drug traffickers.

Nicolas, this is too big, it is huge ... I feel broken ... I feel like a mouse in a cage of bulimic lions ... to be eaten alive and later regurgitated into a toilet bowl while no one is watching. What can I, on my own, do against such a gigantic well-financed machine? Nothing ... especially since my tongue (VHeadline.com) has been cut off.

I know what I can do, but who will listen if I can't be heard?

How will millions of people throughout the world listen to what I and other VHeadline.com writers have to say if we have no way to reach them?

People should have access to the truth ... to VHeadline.com ... not only access to the tons of criminal corporate and US-government-controlled propaganda which is spread like malaria by the fat mosquitoes at the Washington Post, the Observer, the BBC, the CBC, Fox, CNN, The New York Times, the Miami Herald, etc., etc., etc.

The situation is getting worse, Nicolas ... and no other English website with international scope does what we do best. We need VHeadline.com to be financed by the Venezuelan government through advertising so that we can continue to effectively fight the enemy ... and we need it now, not later, when it is too late.

I hope to hear Roy say, "Oscar, Nicolas Maduro called me ... and all is fixed. Our debts have been paid off and we are assured continued financing through Venezuelan government advertising."

Saludos sinceros,

Oscar Heck
