The current rise of Venezuela to the main pages of newspapers around the world

It is well known that the current rise of Venezuela to the main pages of newspapers around the world, whether for massive weapon purchases from Russia, aggressive declarations towards the US or simply overwhelming investments and partnerships with Cuba or Iran, is in large part owed not to Hugo Chavez, and his high profile politics (some might call it megalomania), but to oil. Venezuela's state oil company, PDVSA, quickly became a giant as Venezuela took control of many oil reserves that belonged, in the most part, to the traditional 'big oil' companies. Now, the company finances not only its own expansion but also Chavez's ambitious projects around the world and inside Venezuela, whatever they are."

  1. If the imperialists contrive to seize $12 billion of the venezuelan people's money, Venezuela -- along with all its allies: this must be with all its allies, and seen to be with all its allies -- must see to it that this costs the imperialists at least $25 billion in some other way. And so on. And so on. Tit for tat.

Otherwise they'll never leave Venezuela -- or any other country -- alone. Not that this doesn't end in warfare, anyway. But you certainly don't give them an easy victory without even a gun being fired.
