Change in Venezuela Started in 1992

Caracas, Feb 4 (Prensa Latina) The revolutionary project in Venezuela, boosted by President Hugo Chavez, began with the civic-military action on February 4, 1992.

The 16th anniversary of that movement has been celebrated with the "Three Rs" strategy being promoted by Chavez himself to "review, rectify and reboost" the revolution in all fronts.

According to analysts, the developments that led to the uprising against the Carlos Andres Perez government were detonated by the people"s opposition to a regime characterized by repression, corruption and open impunity.

In addition, the traditional political parties manipulated society, creating a situation of frustration in Venezuela.

That situation led a group of young officials and soldiers from the Armed Forces to rebel against a government that had taken the people to an unsustainable situation.

The military actions in major cities of the country, especially the capital, did not end as planned, so then Lieut. Col. Hugo Chavez decided to surrender their weapons to prevent greater losses.

With that movement, Chavez and his followers ratified the importance of change to build a democratic model full of justice, inclusion and equality.
