CEPR - New Data Shows Continued Economic Progress in Venezuela

The Center for Economic and Policy Research has updated its overview of the Venezuelan economy, “The Venezuelan Economy in the Chávez Years,” including the latest available data for growth, employment, poverty, budget information, and other data. The paper notes continued progress in economic growth, poverty reduction, employment, and health and education indicators. The paper also underscores a key point made when the original was released in July 2007: the Venezuelan economy does not fit the mold of an 'oil boom headed for a bust,' as frequently described by observers and analysts.

  1. This is what people should always keep in mind: these blowhards who slam Venezuela's economy every day in the corporate mass-media are the biggest liars and fools imaginable. But they are paid to do these dirty low hits, and they do them -- regardless of the truth of the matter. So don't even bother thinking about reasoning with them.

Fact is: not only could Venezuela weather any world economic depression -- but the more socialist the country becomes, the better it will do under any economic circumstances under the present leadership. The only thing to actually worry about is economic-military attack -- which is exactly why the imperialists have such huge militaries: in order to guarantee failure in competing economic models.
